MSc Geoarcheology
Geoarchaeology
In the Master's program in Geoarchaeology, knowledge is deepened based on the theoretical foundations and techniques learned in the Bachelor's program through a seminar (1 credit hour) and a laboratory exercise (3 credit hours). Methods for isolating trace DNA from complex or aged matrices are applied, and any already degraded DNA isolates are further analyzed using specific PCR techniques (nested PCR). The alignment of the obtained sequences allows the DNA to be assigned to the originating organism or species. Additionally, special genetic markers are analyzed, enabling DNA typing with respect to common polymorphisms. In the seminar, students present their findings and learn to critically interpret and discuss them.
