His research is in the areas of Semantic Web and Linked Data. The focus is on the various aspects of data integration of diverse data sources. Another important aspect of his research is optimisable query processing. His approach is based on the fact that a pure focus on performance is not sufficient for many applications, as data-oriented quality aspects can be just as important. For this reason, a good query processor must be tunable towards several optimisation goals regarding completeness, correctness and performance.
