EMOS Spring School

23rd - 27th March 2015

Trier, Pisa, Manchester, Luxembourg

The European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS) project is aimed at developing a programme for training and education in Official Statistics within existing Master programmes at European universities. EMOS represents a European network of universities and national statistical authorities working together to share and further develop issues of Official Statistics.

For the first EMOS call for interest published in August 2014, Universities were invited to submit a concept for the implementation of EMOS in their Master programmes, including the description of the EMOS core module. The learning outcomes developed by the Group of Experts further defined the requirements for the EMOS core module.

It is expected that the EMOS Spring School 2015 will now contribute to the development of the EMOS module as a mandatory part of the EMOS curriculum. The lectures taking place during the course of one week across several sites should also provide an example of cooperation within the EMOS network.

The EMOS Spring School will be open to various target groups and will use webinar facilities to increase accessibility to training.

Target groups for the EMOS Spring School 2015:

  • Master students, especially students of statistics, economics, sociology and mathematics;
  • PhD students, especially students of economics, sociology and mathematics;
  • Staff of Eurostat, National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) and other statistical authorities.
