John Edem Akubia

John currently holds a position as a Doctoral Researcher with the Junior Research Group: WaterPower, Governance & Sustainability Lab, Trier University. He obtained an MPhil degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography & Rural Development from University of Ghana (Accra) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (Kumasi) respectively. His doctoral thesis (in progress) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Antje Bruns, integrates Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System and modelling techniques in studying the spatio-temporal dynamics of urbanization-driven urban land-use in coastal and peri-urban areas of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA). He has previously conducted research on the impacts of changing climate and Land-use/cover change on water resources and socio-economic conditions in the Lower Volta basin; coastal erosion on the Keta-Anloga coastline.
