Trierer Tenure-Track (T³) Program
Trier University considers the promotion of young academics and supporting them in their professional career development to be central tasks that are highly relevant for the development of the university as well as for its contribution to shaping society and the economy. Its aim is to promote early academic independence, to further develop subject-specific and interdisciplinary research skills, to impart higher education didactic qualifications, to strengthen interdisciplinary, career-related skills and to make career paths plannable and transparent for professional activities within and outside academia.
With regard to junior professors, this is realized through the Trier Tenure Track (T³) Program, which includes the following offers:
Junior professor network
The Graduate Centre organizes regular module events on career planning and personnel development in the newly created junior professors' network at Trier University. In addition to providing an opportunity for peer-to-peer exchange, these events also allow for the discussion of thematic priorities and the adaptation of the offer to suit requirements. All junior professors are invited to these events by GUT. In addition, an internal information and exchange portal offers the opportunity for regular networking and the provision of information for the target group.
Junior professor mailing list
The GUT regularly provides information on important topics and current events for junior professors via a mailing list set up especially for junior professors. If you would like to be added to the mailing list for junior professors, please send an e-mail to gut@uni-trier.de.
Advice and further training for junior professors
The Graduate Center of Trier University (GUT) is available to junior professors for advisory discussions on all matters relating to further academic qualification and career development and regularly offers various qualification events. The particularly noteworthy workshop “Promotion gut betreut” for supervisors is offered in cooperation with the Qualitätszirkel Promotion (QZP). The GUT also provides information on other services offered by Trier University, for example on reconciling academic qualifications with family life, applying for third-party funding and other topics.
Further information on the relevant guidelines and statutes of Trier University and the competency framework developed can be obtained from the University's Quality Management and Teaching Development (QML) unit.
Welcome day for junior professors on 13.10.2022
The first meeting of junior professors at Trier University provided an opportunity for them to get to know their colleagues as well as the services and contact persons at the Graduate Center and the university. The focus was on collegial networking, an initial exchange of experiences and an evaluation of the target group's needs.
In addition to the first Welcome Day, GUT regularly organizes module events on specific topics related to career planning and personal development for junior professors, e.g. on
- Supervision of students & doctoral candidates
- Family, career & compatibility
- Financing studies & doctorates via scholarships
- Stays abroad and internationalization
In addition to topic-specific information, these events primarily offer the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues and to network.
