Important change from 2025: merger of TriGUT and the funding program for scientific events of the Research Department
The TriGUT funding program of the Graduate Center will be merged with the program for the funding of scientific events of the Research Unit from 2025. From this date, it will no longer be possible to apply directly for TriGUT. Instead, interested parties can contact the Research Unit directly and use the next application deadline on April 1, 2025.
There are no disadvantages for those interested in merging the programs; applicants now also have the opportunity to apply for funding of up to €3,000.
For further information and support, please contact Daniel Bauerfeld, your contact person in the Research Department.
TriGUT - Young academics in exchange
Promotion of conferences and meetings
In addition to advancing their own research, networking is one of the core tasks for young academics. One of the most fertile grounds for the germination and flourishing of such academic networks are meetings and conferences: this is where connections are made, doors to new ideas are opened and horizons are broadened. With the „TriGUT“ format, Trier University, in cooperation with the Graduate Centre of Trier University (GUT), would like to encourage its own young researchers (postgraduates and postdocs) to organize and hold their own meetings and conferences. TriGUT offers the opportunity to facilitate the realization of a self-planned conference by providing financial support of usually a maximum of € 2,500 per application.
Applications for funding can be submitted to the Graduate Center (GUT) twice a year.
Eligibility and selection criteria
- Organization of the event at Trier University
- Thematic connection to research priorities at Trier University
- Detailed preparation and planning of the conference
Who can submit applications?
- Doctoral candidates registered and/or enrolled for doctoral studies at Trier University
- Postdocs, if within the first two years after completion of the doctorate or after beginning the habilitation; the connection to Trier University must be made clear, especially for persons not employed at Trier University
The following can be funded
- Auxiliary staff hours for the preparation and realization of the conference
- Fees for keynote speakers, if applicable
- Travel allowances, if applicable
- Costs in the context of event preparation (e.g. printing and material costs)
