Short Bio

Bryson Lawton is currently a research associate in the HCI group at the University of Trier. He earned his Master of Science degree from the University of Calgary in Canada, where his thesis explored the impact of XR technologies on ground control station user interfaces for multi-drone operations. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Astrophysics from the University of Calgary and has many years of experience as a technical project lead. In this role, he oversaw the design and development of interdisciplinary XR research projects, all of which focused on better determining how immersive analytics and XR control system interfaces can be integrated into science and engineering workflows in useful and beneficial ways.

With experience in XR HCI, astrophysics, data visualization, immersive analytics, computer graphics, and scientific computation, his research interests aim to refine XR technologies and empirically evaluate how it can be best used to practically benefit humanity, particularly in STEM fields. As an astrophile, he is also especially passionate about research that explores novel ways by which XR and other emerging technologies may support all people in better understanding and exploring our Universe.
