Linguistics
The linguistics section of the department has a strong focus on empirical, data-driven approaches to the English language, covering, e.g.,
- English corpus linguistics,
- native and non-native varieties of English as a world language,
- historical linguistics and language change,
- variation in language structure and the Mental Lexicon,
- pragmatics, genres and stylistic variation.
