European Human Rights Law (15403501)

The lecture deals with human rights protection in the European Union and under the European Convention of Human Rights. It is part of the “Master of European and East Asian Governance” and of the law programme of the “Specialisation 6-II European and Public International Law”. Besides, it is open to all law and political sciences students who are interested in human rights protection and European law. More information about the structure and the subjects of the course you can find here. Please register for the course in stud.ip. There, you will also find a reader with human rights cases and a list with recommended manuals and other references.
Please bring along a copy of the European Convention on Human Rights and of the Treaties of the European Union (Treaty on European Union, Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union).

Übung im Völker- und Europarecht (15203389)

Die Übung knüpft an die völker- und europarechtlichen Vorlesungen des Schwerpunktbereich 6/II an und vertieft die Kentnisse der Fallbearbeitungen in diesen Rechtsgebieten. Die AG dient in erster Linie der Vorbereitung auf die Klausur und mündliche Prüfung im SPB 6/II.

The Course will start on June 18th and will end on July 10th.
The course explores the key features of the EU legal system. It is part of the “Master of European and East Asian Governance”. Next to tracing the incremental legal and institutional development of the EU polity, it examines the current institutional framework and engages in a thorough study of the fundamentals of EU law, including relevant case law. Upon completion of the course, students will have a general knowledge of (1) how the EU legal and institutional framework developed; (2) how EU institutions engage in policy-making; (3) how EU law is made, implemented, enforced, and reviewed; and (4) how the EU acts on the international scene in selected policy fields.
