PhD Candidate and Parent

[Translate to Englisch:] Promovieren mit Kind

The Graduate Center of Trier University (GUT) is once again announcing the funding program “PhD Candidate and Parent”. The university management is funding this support program for young academics as part of its measures as a certified family-friendly university.

The program supports doctoral students who are exposed to multiple burdens due to raising children and doing a doctorate by providing them with a student assistant. This student assistant relieves the doctoral students with children by carrying out simple auxiliary scientific tasks, such as library loans, laboratory work, reviewing material or proofreading.

Junior researchers with children who are doing their doctorate at Trier University are eligible to apply. Priority is given to single mothers and fathers, but non-single mothers and fathers are also eligible if sufficient funds are available. The funding measure is expected to be approved from July to November or January to May with a weekly working time of 4 hours for the student assistant. Applicants must make their own efforts to find an assistant from their own department (usually students on a Bachelor's degree course, in justified cases also students on a Master's degree course).
