Research and Study Focus Areas

The Department of Computational Linguistics and Digital Humanities combines cutting-edge technologies with humanities-related questions. Our study programs are interdisciplinary and offer students the opportunity to acquire both technical and humanities skills.

  • Professorship for Computational Linguistics: Research on machine learning of knowledge representations primarily from textual media for natural language understanding, media analysis and the integration and provision of knowledge
  • Professorship for Digital Humanities: Interdisciplinary research at the interface of statistics, computer science and the humanities with a focus on computational literary studies.
  • Professorship of Digital Lexicography: Interdisciplinary research at the interface of linguistics, computer science and the humanities with a focus on the creation, indexing and analysis of dictionaries and lexical resources in the digital space.

 

Internationality

Computational Linguistics and Digital Humanities are disciplines with strong international connections. Our department:

  • Actively facilitates international exchanges, e.g., through the Erasmus program.
  • Offers an English-language degree program as well as courses taught in English.
  • Welcomes numerous international students every semester.
