Focus: Science and Teaching

In the context of the digitization of science and teaching, there is a wide range of questions for HCI research. The working group is currently focusing on the partial aspects of visual data analysis and the use of virtual museums using virtual reality technologies. In the context of visual data analysis the working group focuses primarily on the application of VR at the classic desk workplace. This gives rise to various specific questions, e.g. what an effective and efficient interaction method for virtual locomotion can look like or how techniques to prevent cybersickness can be implemented. The involvement of the working group in the EU flagship project "The Human Brain Project" also plays a central role in this research. The scientific questions dealt with there in neuroscience result in a variety of applications that are highly relevant to the topics of the working group. In the context of virtual museums the working group is currently building a virtual reconstruction of historical Trier. The aim is to create a virtual environment in which goal-oriented interaction research for VR can be implemented, but also scientific results can be developed and, in particular, communicated. To this end, the working group is in close contact with the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier and the Professorship for Classical Archaeology.
