Venue

CollabTech 2026 will take place at the Trier University on Campus I, building A. Here you find a campus map with the buidling's location on campus. The conference will take place in rooms A9 and A10. 

How to reach Trier internationally?

The closest airport is Luxembourg International Airport (LUX), which offers connections to various destinations. Luxembourg can be reached by various airlines, primarily Luxair, KLM, or Lufthansa, as well as low-cost alternatives such as EasyJet, Ryanair, and Volotea. For transportation between Trier city center and Luxembourg Airport, several options exist:

  • Shuttle service: approximately 30 minutes, costing approximately €170.

  • Taxi: approximately 45 minutes, costing approximately €100.

  • Bus (Line 302, website Mobiliteit): direct connection, approximately 40 minutes, costing €3.

  • Train: 1 hour with 1 stop, costing €5.40 (second class) or €11.60 (first class).

Trier Central train station (Tier Hbf) is located in the city center, and it’s only one bus stop away from the venue location.

Another option would be Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), which requires a minimum 3.5-hour train ride via Koblenz to and from Trier main station, costing €47.

How to reach the Venue? - Directions to Campus I

Trier University consists of Campus I (main campus) and Campus II. Both campuses are directly connected by a pleasant pedestrian and bicycle path. The walk takes approximately 15 minutes.The venue for the conference is located on Campus I.

By Bus (from the city center)

Via the main train station (Hauptbahnhof)

  • Line 3 (toward Filsch/L.-Erhard-Ring): every 15 minutes during the day, stop “Universität”
  • Line 13 (toward Weidengraben): every 15 minutes during the day, stop “Universität”
  • Line 83/88 (toward Tarforst): every 30 minutes early mornings, evenings, and weekends, stop “Universität”
  • Line 230 (toward Kell): hourly during the day, stop “Universität”
  • Line 31 (toward Pluwig/Bonerath): every 30 minutes, stop “Universität Süd”
  • Line 81 (toward Tarforst): every 30 minutes early mornings, evenings, and weekends, stop “Universität Süd”

Via bus stops Porta Nigra / Karl-Marx-Haus / Kaiserthermen

  • Line 6 (toward Tarforst): every 20 minutes during the day, stop “Universität Süd”

Via bus stops Porta Nigra / Petrisberg / Campus II

  • Line 4 (toward Irsch): every 30 minutes during the day, stop “Universität” / “Universität Hauptgebäude”
  • Line 14 (toward Uni Mensa): every 30 minutes during the day, stop “Universität Parkplatz” or “Universität Mensa”

By Car

  • When arriving in Trier via one of the main access roads, follow the signs toward “Universität”.
  • At Campus I, free visitor parking is available at:
    • East parking lot (recommended for Buildings A, B, C, V, DM, N and P, Audimax/Mensa, Studihaus, Library and Laboratory Building)

By Bicycle (from the city center)

A very scenic and quiet bike path runs through the Avelertal/Kürenz area, surrounded by greenery. Cycling via Olewig is also very convenient (moderate incline, no traffic).

Accomodation

In Trier, you have mainly two options for choosing an accommodation. Either you select a Hotel or Apartment in the city center or near the venue. In the city center, you will have access to various restaurant, bars and five different world heritage sites in walking distance. Still, you will need to take one of various bus lines up to the venue, which go frequently. With the registration, we will provide you with a bus ticket for the time of the conference, which will enable you to come around easily. For the second option, you may choose an accommodation closer to the venue, which enables you to walk to the venue (15-20 min) but restricts you in the choice of restaurants, bars and touristic options.

Please find a (non-exhaustive) list of hotels either in the city center or near the venue. For the city center, the list is additionally sorted by price ($$$ – high, $$ – medium, $ – low). At the very bottom, you will find a link to a larger list. Please check which hotels are in the city center and not outside, which may increase your traveling time to the venue. Additionally, you will be able to find various options for apartments and rooms on other booking platforms of your choice.
