Practical Philosophy (Prof. Dr. Matthias Hoesch)

Practical Philosophy is concerned with the nature and the fundamental categories of actions and of human life. Practical Philosophy asks what characterizes actions, which actions are rational or irrational, good or bad, permitted, forbidden or required, what constitutes a good life - and whether and how academically substantiated statements can be generated about this at all. The Chair of Practical Philosophy at Trier University (Professur für Praktische Philosophie des 20. Jahrhunderts bis in die Gegenwart mit einem Schwerpunkt in der Ethik und der angewandten Ethik, as the full title reads) covers the entire spectrum of contemporary research and teaching in the field of Practical Philosophy, with a focus on applied ethics and political philosophy.
