Prof. Hilary Duffield

  • Representations of anthropogenic crisis and collective environmental trauma
  • Invasion narratives and their subversive counter-narrative forms in Anglophone fiction, film and television
  • Postcolonial narratives: Nigeria; South Africa. Anglophone diaspora identities 

Hilary Duffield has a BA in English Literature and German, and a PhD in German Literature from Cardiff University. She wrote her postdoc thesis - Coincidence and Counterfactuality (a cognitively oriented, diachronic analysis of the representation of time and space in narrative fiction) - at the University of Freiburg. She worked at the universities of Cologne, Freiburg, Leipzig and Bayreuth before joining Trier English department.
