Lecture Development and Learning
The lecture Development and Learning is offered to students in the Bachelor's degree programme for teachers at Realschulen plus and Gymnasien and is part of Module 1 ("Socialisation, Upbringing, Education").
The lecture held by the Department of Educational Psychology comprises 2 SWS (hours per week). You will receive 2 credit points for successful completion. Successful completion of the lecture is proven by passing the corresponding part of the module exam.
Module Basics of Psychology
The elective module Basics of Psychology can be chosen by students of the BSc programmes Social and Organisational Education, Business Administration, Economics and Finance, Social Sciences and Economics. This module is part of the Freier Wahlbereich. Four lectures are offered from which you can choose freely.
These lectures are offered in the winter semester:
- Lecture Developmental Psychology
- Lecture Social Psychology
The following lectures are offered in the summer semester:
- Lecture General Psychology
- Lecture Personality Psychology
The module can therefore be completed within one year.
Written exam and ECTS points
The written exam lasts 90 minutes and comprises four parts corresponding to the four lectures. From these four parts you choose two to work on (see module description 10 ECTS).
Test subject hours
Psychological knowledge is gained primarily in empirical studies. One can only understand modern psychology if one knows the procedure and contents of such studies in detail. Therefore, in addition to the lectures, the module includes participation in empirical psychological studies amounting to 12 hours (=720 minutes).
ATTENTION: The test subject hours are managed exclusively via the software "SONA". For this purpose, registration in the system is required. All relevant information can be viewed HERE. Please make sure that you select the option Elective Module Basics of Psychology (BSc) when registering.
The proof of 12 test subject hours is a prerequisite for participation in the module final exam. Whether you have completed enough test subject hours will be checked by a system administrator in SONA. This check takes place on the day after the registration deadline for the module’s final exam and only “Credits Earned” (not “Credits Pending”) can be accepted.
Please note that if you register for the examination without fulfilling the examination requirement, your examination will automatically be assessed as failed! So, check your SONA account regularly to see if you have been credited with all the test subject hours in time. If you are already registered for the examination and can foresee that you will not have completed enough test subject hours before the registration deadline, it is advisable that you deregister from the examination within the registration deadline in order to avoid a failed attempt.
The written exam for the winter semester 2023/2024 will take place on March 12, 2024 (10:00 - 12:00) in the Audimax.
The subject hours are checked on until February 28, 2024.
If the required 12 VPN hours are not proven by this time, the prerequisite for participation in the exam is not fulfilled. Participation in the exam is then not possible, even if you had already registered in PORTA.
If you fail an examination, a maximum of two retakes is possible; the general examination regulations of the University of Trier stipulate that the retakes are to be taken within four semesters following examination period (i.e. for the module Basics of Psychology in the next semester). In that case it is necessary that you register for the repeat examination in PORTA - an automatic registration by the University Examination Office does not take place! Renewed proof of test subject hours is not required for the retake examination. If the second retake examination is not passed, no further examination can be taken in the elective module Basics of Psychology. Supplementary examinations are not possible.
The examination inspection for the examinations of the winter semester 2023/24 will take place on April 15, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:00 in room D435. For this, registration under email@example.com until April 11, 2024 is required.
