Fluid Dynamic Simulation and Visualisation

TR – IRC Pass System (Reference TR_03_HPC)

The High Performance Computing (HPC) group of the university is developing simulation software for fluid dynamics in incompressible media with the possibility of two-phase flows. It is based on the Chimera grid technology to significantly reduce computer memory usage and computational time. The software will be extended to simulate interaction between multiple droplets in a non-static flow. Several parallel computers are on location to solve even large problems.

 

The program is parallelised by using the Message Passing Interface (MPI) library. The large output data is visualized by the research group’s own 3D visualisation tool. In the future the usage of Virtual Reality technology and interactive 3D visualisation is planned.

 

To this end, the partner the German consortium is looking for should be capable of virtual reality and/or fluid dynamic investigation.

 

Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:

They are especially interested in companies and research facilities, which can already deal with virtual reality or maybe have such a device already in use. On the other hand it would be helpful to identify a partner organisation owning experimental facilities for fluid dynamic investigations in order to compare simulation with experimental results directly and in an immersive environment.
