A French software editor develops collaborative workspaces tools and software. Its main product allows companies and organisations to develop their own collaborative workspaces and offers all professional communities a true collaborative work tool. mayeticVillage collaborative workspaces were launched in the beginning of 2000.
Currently, the existing software and tools dedicated to collaborative work are represented by traditional groupware technology such as Lotus Notes or Microsoft Exchange. However, these tools remain complex to install and quite expensive for small and medium-sized businesses. Therefore, the tool developed by this French software editor represents a significant alternative to the above-mentioned solutions.
Today, this company wishes to develop new functionalities to enrich mayeticVillage. One of them is associating to any mayeticVillage community a “file management” tool. mayeticVillage is an information-and document-publication-oriented collaborative work tool. The pattern used to introduce the information and documents within a collaborative workspace is based on the “page” concept. A page includes a title, content, and a file attachment field allowing to attach one or several files. However, an access mode similar to file management is still lacking where it would simply be possible to store files and file trees in a community, and to browse through these files.
This SME does not have enough expertise in space storage creation and file management. Therefore Mayetic is looking for a partner with significant know-how in this field.

The tool to be developed would provide any mayeticVillage community with a storage space responding to file manager criteria. This tool may be accessed through a web interface and be associated with a Windows file manager (as a virtual disk) through an interface of WebDAV (Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning) or Web Folder type, or other prevalent norms in the field. Functionally speaking, companies like idrive.com that perform online storage and own this type of tool could be quoted as an example.
