Call: ECREA Communication History section´s 2011 Workshop

The History of Mass Media in Europe:

Towards Post-National Perspectives and [His]-Stories

This year the ECREA Communication History Section will meet at Dublin City University, School of Communications, Dublin (Ireland), 7th to 9th September 2011.

The ECREA CommHist Section management team has identified ´post-national perspectives and approaches to the [his]-stories of mediated communication in Europe´as an increasingly important, if challeging, theme for this field of study. Thus, the Section invites contributions from scholars who are interested in topics related to this theme and who can present papers and engage in the discussion at its 2011 workshop in Dublin. The Commhist Section is also planning to publish a handbook and/or textbook with the aim of providing a coherent set of contributions which yield a well-structured and relevant overview of European mass media history in the last 100 years. Thus the 2011 workshop in Dublin will also provide an opportunity to identify potential contributions and advance the Section´s plans for a handbook or textbook project around this theme.

The Call for Papers can be found on this <link http: www.dcu.ie conferences ecrea index.shtml _blank external-link-new-window>website. There you can also find a form to type in your abstracts.

Closing date for submission of abstracts: 2nd April 2011.
