To do upon your arrival

After your arrival in Trier, it is important to attend to the following in the first few days here:

Your contact at Trier University

Please contact your host professor. They are your first and most important contact at Trier University.

Afterwards, you are welcome to get in touch with the International Office who can provide information on how to get started on campus and how to apply for access cards (e.g. for using the library and the cafeterias).

Resident Registration Office

If you are staying for more than 3 months, you need to register your place of residence with the city of Trier.

Residence permit

Depending on your nationality, you might need to apply for a residence permit if you are staying in Germany for more than three months.

Bank account

To simplify payment transactions, you can open a bank account with one of the banks in Trier.

Public transport

You can use bus and trains to get around Trier and the surrounding area.

Doctors and hospitals

Important information can be found here if you are in need of medical help.
