If you wish, you can reserve a room in one of the student dormitories of the Studierendenwerk of Trier University (while stocks last!). Accommodation is provided in single rooms in various student dormitories near the campus ("Tarforst", "Kleeburger Weg", "Petrisberg" and "Olewig"). Each participant has a bedroom to himself/herself. Most of the apartments are single apartments with own bathroom and kitchen. There are also doublets and triplets with two or three bedrooms and shared bathroom and kitchen. Each dormitory also has a room with washing machines and dryers.
Please note that these are student dormitories with the usual, simple standard.
Important! Unfortunately, there will be no Wifi/Wifi there for the rental in August 2022! Please take this into account for your planning. The easiest way to access the Internet is then probably via your own cell phone (Wifi hotspot) or via "surfstick". Make sure you have enough data volume.
However, there is wifi reception everywhere on Campus I and II (but the dormitories are NOT part of the campus!).
All rooms or apartments (single, double and triple) have their own mini-kitchen (with 2 hotplates, NO oven) and a bathroom. Bed linen is provided by the university, please bring your own towels. There are usually NO or few kitchen utensils in the mini-kitchen. However, there are often (cooking) utensils and cutlery left behind in apartments by other students, so course participants can borrow some from each other.
If you would like to reserve a room, please note this on the online registration form when you register.
Cost of dormitory room for the time of the complete course: see here
If more than one person wishes to be housed in the same dormitory, OR if you wish to have a single apartment, you must specifically note this on the registration form. The course administration will make every effort to accommodate requests made in good time – however, we cannot give definite assurances, as the allocation of rooms depends on the extent and type of available accommodation on the part of the Studierendenwerk. A later change is not possible for organizational reasons.
When planning your trip, please note that it is not possible to move into the room earlier than the day of arrival or to leave later than the day of departure!
Also, you will have to present a deposit of 50 € upon arrival, which will be returned to you upon departure if the room is handed over in good condition.
- If you have reserved a dormitory room, you will pay a deposit of 50 € immediately after arrival, in addition to the rent.
- Washing machines and drying facilities are available in all dormitories. Your bed linen will be provided by the university
However, all other movable items (e.g. towels, dishes and other household goods) are NOT provided and must be brought along if needed!
How can I find private accommodation in Trier?
The University has a specific contingent of rooms for the summer school. It is limited and only available for the days from arrival to departure day.
If you wish to stay in Trier outside this period OR you did not get a room via the summer school OR you wish to stay in a private room, you'll find a list of inexpensive accomodation options below.
