ERASMUS+ General information and exchange places
In search of new impressions, hours of flying are not necessary. There is already much to discover in our neighbouring countries and unforgettable experiences and encounters await you.
Many students venture abroad every year with the ERASMUS+ programme of the European Union. After completing their first year of study up to and including their doctorate, students can receive funding for a study period of between three and twelve months at a foreign host university.
The partnerships of the ERASMUS+ programme relate to the individual departments and/or degree programmes. By matching the partner universities to the respective department, you will be able to take part in high-quality exchanges which, together with the courses offered at the host universities, will be a useful addition to your studies at Trier University.
Further information on the ERASMUS+ programme in general can also be found at www.erasmus.uni-trier.de
Advantages of an ERASMUS study programme
- no tuition fees at the host university
- mobility grant staggered according to country group plus additional grant for students with fewer opportunities
- Green ERASMUS: subsidy for travel costs when using low-emission means of transport
- support and advice from permanent contact persons before, during and after your stay
- Recognition of academic achievements
- Participation in free language courses possible
ERASMUS+
The ERASMUS higher education programme, one of the EU's great success stories, has been promoting cross-border mobility of students, university lecturers and university staff in Europe since 1987 and now also, within the framework of new partnerships, in countries outside Europe. In the meantime, far more than 10 million students have spent a period abroad with this programme. The basis of the student exchanges described below within the framework of the ERASMUS+ programme are cooperation agreements (e.g. regarding the mutual recognition of academic achievements) between university lectures at European universities. The programmes are therefore not advertised university-wide, but for individual subjects; as a rule, one to three places are agreed per host university.
Conditions
Target group
Unless otherwise stated, students of all degree programmes; doctoral students by arrangement, if applicable.
Programme benefits
Waiver of tuition fees at the host university, monthly allowance of approx. €400 to €600 (the exact amount depends on the destination country and is determined annually; the allowance can be combined with BAföG benefits).
Students from a non-academic parental home, students who finance their studies through gainful employment, students with child(ren) and students with a disability from GdB 20 or with a chronic illness that leads to additional costs abroad can receive a further grant of €250 per month for additional costs during the ERASMUS stay. Alternatively, students with children and students with a disability can also receive a grant of up to €15,000 per semester to cover verifiable additional costs abroad; costs for accompanying persons and/or a preparatory trip can also be taken into account (as of 7/2022; if you are interested, please contact Anne Freihoff, International Office).

Applicationd deadline
Application deadlines vary from subject to subject (see below for details). Please note that there is only one application procedure per academic year, i.e. the application deadlines apply to stays in both the winter semester and the following summer semester.
Level of study
As a rule, participation in courses of the Bachelor's programmes is planned at the partner universities (marking: B). If an agreement exists for the Master's area, this is marked with an M. However, this information only serves as a first orientation, as changes are still possible. More detailed information is available from the subject coordinators or the International Office during the application period. Doctoral students who are interested in an ERASMUS stay are also asked to contact us.
Find your exchange place that suits your field of study
Note
The following exchange offers refer to the agreements made for the academic year 2022/23; for 2023/24 there may still be changes due to the termination of previous exchange agreements or the addition of new partners. The current status will be published at www.ins-ausland-downloads.uni-trier.de during the application period.
Please note:
Great Britain and Switzerland are expected to participate in the ERASMUS+ programme as "partner countries" in the academic year 2023/24.
