Information about health insurance for students


Enrolment only with electronic status message of the German public health insurance

Every applicant has to contact a German public health insurance prior to enrolment (changed procedure since Nov. 1st 2021).


Based on the information given by the applicant, the public health insurance via data interchange updates the health insurance status (M10) of the respective student/applicant in the administration software of Trier University.

Letters/confirmations in hard copy from the insurance can no longer be accepted!

What does this mean for you?

  • Applicants

At the lastest for enrolment we need from the public health insurance the electronic notification about the status of your health insurance (M10).
Get in contact with a German public health insurance - the sooner, the better. The health insurance will then get in contact with us.

  • Students

Students who are already enroled do not need to do anything - unless you are contacted by us. Also in case you change your health insurance, then you need to become active.

 

  • Students who change their health insurance

In order to re-enrol without any problems in the next semester, we need, from your new insurance, the electronic notification about the health insurance change (M11).

  • Students who are insured on a private basis (not in a public insurance)

Generally you need to contact any German public health insurance. The public health insurance will electronically notify us about your health insurance status.
