Students are required to apply online through the online application portal. The application process begins:

► at the end of April for the following winter semester - deadline: 1 July 

► in November for the following summer semester - deadline: 15 January

The application forms

The following three application forms are available on the online application portal from the beginning of the application process:

1) The application form for exchange students (Access here)
Before choosing the subject(s) you would like to study at Trier University, please take a look at the following information sheet. 
2) The registration form for the orientation programme (linked on page one of the application form)
3) The application form for allocation of accommodation (linked on page one of the application form)
4) Passport or ID card copy  

All 4 documents (incl. a signed copy of the application form) must reach us by email by 1 July for the following winter semester and by 15 January for the following summer semester.
Your application form is only valid if your home university has signed and stamped your application form as well!

For your study abroad stay at Trier University, you must have sufficient health insurance coverage to be eligible for enrolment!
The deadline to send us the proof of sufficient health insurance is 7th February 2025.

After your admission to Trier University, you need to enrol.

The application for enrollment starts on 10 February 2025
Enrolment deadline: 21 February 2025

To be able to enrol you, we need:
- completed enrolment form
- a confirmation of the payment of the social fee (needs to be paid entirely by every student!)
- a proof of sufficient health care coverage.
- signed enrolment checklist

Please wait for the email with all the details!. The email will be send to admitted exchange students on 10 February 2025

In case you withdraw from the exchange, the refund of the social fee is possible until 31 March 2025 (by sending us the deregistration form Antrag auf Exmatrikulation) only.
After this date, students can still deregister, but the social fee cannot be refunded.

Looking for an accommodation is an important step before starting your trip to Trier. The earlier you start looking, the better your chances of finding the right place.
The housing market can be a challenging in Trier and the International Office might not be able to offer accommodation to all exchange students in summer semester 2025. Please note that your enrolment entitels you for free public transport in the region (busses and trains), so you might also look for accommodation in the (usually cheaper) outskirts of town.

For the summer semester 2025: The International Office will inform all exchange students who apply for accommodation if their application has been successfull on 31 January 2025. If we can offer you accommodation, you will receive a detailled offer on that day.
