Committee for Research Ethics and Research Security


The Senate of the Trier University approved the establishment of a Senate Committee for Research Ethics and Research Security on 20 February 1992. This committee reviews empirical research projects involving human participants to ensure that the dignity and rights of the participants as well as the safety and rights of the researchers and the environment are protected throughout the research process. For medical research projects, contact the Ethics Committee of the Federal Medical Association of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The decision made by the Committee for Research Ethics and Research Security is for advisory purposes only.

Short Application Procedure

The short application procedure is open to all departments of Trier University. Please use the short application form and the research information and consent form templates below. The short application is the default application method provided there are no reasons that require a full application. The Commission reserves the right to request a full application if warranted.

Please note that an application is considered complete only if it includes both the research information sheet and the informed consent form. The absence of either of these documents must be justified.

Full Application Procedure

The full application procedure is only to be used, when the short application proves insufficient. Justify your decision to use a full application in the cover letter.
